ACSE Welcomes Xu Yousheng and OCAO Delegation

On March 4th, 2010, ACSE, along with nine business and professional elites from
Chinese community in Chicago area, hosted a dinner reception at Entourage in
Schaumburg to welcome a delegation from Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State
Council (OCAO) led by vice minister Xu, Yousheng.
This event was part of the activities organized by Chicago area Chinese community to
welcome the large OCAO delegation with a group of famous Chinese performing artists
in the tour of a gala show named “Cultures of China, Festival of Spring.” Chicago is the
last stop in USA for the group. The event was organized by ACSE’s director of public
relations, Ms. Joanna Wang, and hosted by ACSE’s secretary general, Mr. Xiangdong Xu.
ACSE president, Dr. Lubo Zhou, warmly welcomed the delegation in his opening speech
and expressed his appreciation for the OCAO’s support to Overseas Chinese
community. He gave a brief overview of ACSE as one of the largest Chinese American
professional organization and highlighted some recent achievements and activities. He
also called for long term collaboration with OCAO to have more solid program in the
future. Mr. Xu thanked ACSE and Chicago Chinese community for their hospitality and
strong support. He then provided some advice on how to pursue personal career in China
especially for oversea Chinese professionals.
Consul General, Mr. Huang Ping from the Consulate General of People’s Republic of China in Chicago also gave his speech at the reception. He anticipated that ACSE would make more progress in year 2010 and generate more impacts on both Chinese and American communities. After Mr. Ping Huang’s speech, ACSE chairman, Dr. Haibo Guo introduced ACSE leaders. Ms. Joanna Wang then introduced a group of prominent entrepreneurs and professionals from Chicago area: Ms. Jane Lee, Mr. Daqing Huang, Mr. Eric Chang, Mr. Tony Hu, Mr. Qian Wang, Mr. Mike Fang, Mr. Yumin Li, Dr. Ningzhong Wu and Dr. Zhengdong Huang. Government officials including Mr. Chuanjie Dong and Mr. Zhetao Chen from OCAO, and Mr. Yunliang Xie, Ms. Xue Wen, Mr. Yuqing Zhao from Consulate General of People’s Republic of China in Chicago joined this dinner reception. Everyone enjoyed delicious food and social networking under a cozy and relaxing atmosphere.

二零一零年三月八日，旅美中国科学家工程师专业人士协会（科工专）与中国江苏省无锡市“无锡产业发展集团有限公司”及无锡北创科技创业园有限公司在芝加哥签署合作协议书，双方就高科技创业人才交流及项目合作达成合作伙伴关系。
根据双方签署的协议，无锡产业发展集团有限公司将在科工专的大力协助下，在芝加哥建立人才引进工作站。无锡产业发展集团总裁刘玉海表示，他曾多次来美商务考察，得到了科工专协会的大力支持，无锡产业发展集团有限公司很高兴能同科工专达成合作协议，帮助无锡市引进领军型海外留学归国创业人才。

科工专与芝加哥地区校友会、同乡会、专业协会联合成功举办虎年春节联欢会

2010年2月27日晚，旅美中国科学家工程师专业人士协会（以下简称科工专）与清华大学校友会，北京大学校友会，天津大学校友会，南开大学校友会, 复旦大学校友会, 浙江大学校友会, 南京大学校友会, 中科大校友会, 武汉大学校友会, 华师大校友会，华中科大校友会, 华人金融学会，大芝加哥地区华人妇女商会, 东北华人协会, 江苏同乡会等在芝加哥西北郊Hoffman Estates的金宝饭店举办了规模盛大的2010年中国新年联欢活动，共同庆祝中国传统春节及元宵佳节，近250名科工专会员和十一大校友会、同乡会会员及亲朋好友们应邀参加了晚会。这次聚会是科工专与其他团体在芝加哥地区联合举办的规模较大的一次春节聚会。中国驻芝加哥总领事黄屛，大芝加哥地区华侨华人联合会主席刘红女士也应邀出席了此次联欢活动。
科工专会长周麓波在欢迎演讲中预祝中国经济在新的一年里龙腾虎跃, 美国经济能尽快走出危机。中国驻芝加哥总领事黄屛也发表了即席演讲，他说，今年芝加哥中国城的春节大游行共有36，000人中外友人参与。这表明了中国春节受欢迎程度如此之高、影响如此之大。这其中既有中华文化自身的魅力，也有海外华侨华人与当地较好融合的因素，而更主要的是，中国的发展受到世界瞩目，国际地位和国际影响力大幅提高。他还希望科工专以及十一大校友会和其他专业协会作为融汇了来自中国精英的团体，应精诚合作，团结一致，利用自身优势，成为推动中美两国在文化，经济，科技交流与合作的桥梁与纽带。此后，大芝加哥地区华侨华人联合会主席刘红女士，十一大校友会以及大芝加哥地区华人妇女商会, 华人金融学会, 东北华人协会, 江苏同乡会的负责人也发表了热情洋溢的新春祝词。
晚会由有专业主持水平的王鹤女士和部瑞志先生主持。他们的主持幽默风趣，游刃有余。在他们的精心主持下，贵宾们在享用饭店准备的丰盛团圆饭的同时，还欣赏了高水平的器乐与歌唱表演。郝一丁和黄清宇两位高中生的小提琴二重奏《二泉映月》，王群父女的二胡独奏《赛马》和《康定情歌》，刘光辉的男生独唱《大江南》，何英的女生独唱《我爱你中国》和《Time to Say Goodbye》引起了阵阵热烈掌声。著名的校园说唱歌手孙诚，张宁表演的《在美国》和《中国制造》，把晚会的气氛推向了高潮并引来了众多粉丝的推崇。另外，视为科工专春晚保留节目的抽奖活动，也引发了众人的参与，其乐融融。

ACSE 14th Annual Conference and Symposium on Economy Hotspots in China and Opportunities for Chinese-American Professionals

ACSE had a very successful annual conference and symposium on Sept.23. There were about 200 people attended the morning session, and followed by three fully crowd afternoon sessions. Even in the dinner party, we got about 50 people over there in four over-seated tables (plus a small table). Overall, we got some very positive feedbacks about this event.
One bright spot is that Ms. Anna S. Hui, Special Assistant of U. S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao, attended our conference and delivered a great opening speech. Anna spent 6 hours at the airport due to the bad weather, and she was in a sickness condition with bad coughing, as through all these, she still attended our conference and delivered a wonderful speech.
Mr. Zhang Yunnian made an excellent introduction about Tianjing and Benhai, and he also invited us to make a delegation to Benhai special zone this December. Professor Hsee delivered a wonderful speech with a lot of humor, and the audients kept laughing all the time, and which bring the appetite for the lunch. The three afternoon sessions also filled with many high profile speakers, especially the Sr. Director from Abbott Laboratories, Mr. George Maliekal. Total seven guests from Tianjing Benhai, Suzhou industry park, Beijing Zhongguancun and Ms. Anna Hui were traveled from other states and countries specially to attend our conference, let’s express our sincere appreciation to all them.

ACSE Established Three New Chapters

ACSE Board of Directors has approved that ACSE established three new chapters since January 2006: Seattle Chapter (Washington), Pennsylvania Chapter (Pennsylvania), Champaign Chapter (Illinois). Mr. WANG Zhengnong is the president of Seattle Chapter; Mr. LI Zhiheng is the president of Pennsylvania Chapter; Mr. FANG Lujiang is the president of Champaign Chapter. The Seattle and Pennsylvania chapters were effective on February 10th, 2006 and Champaign Chapter was effective on May 1st, 2006. ACSE congratulates and welcomes all new members to join ACSE and congratulates Mr. WANG Zhengrong, Mr. LI Zhiheng, Mr. FANG Lujiang as the presidents of ACSE new chapters!
According to ACSE By-Law, the presidents of ACSE chapters are automatically ACSE Board members. Hence, let us welcome Mr. WANG Zhengrong, Mr. LI Zhiheng, Mr. FANG Lujiang to join ACSE Board of Directors. Now there are total twenty eight (28) ACSE Board members, including fifteen (15) presidents of local chapters.
ACSE’s principle and spirit are: Cooperate, Develop and Contribute. Our mission is to build up a platform for our members to perform and success. We have been building a strong team and leadership for the continuous growth of ACSE and better services for our members and communities. With your participation and contribution, ACSE and our members will have more potential opportunities both in the United States and China. We are trying our best to organize ACSE more efficiently, democratically, systematically and professionally. We are all working together for ACSE better future.

ACSE-SIP Discussion Forum

In the evening of April 7,2006, ACSE hosted a very successful discussion forum with some key leaders from SuZhou Industry Park (SIP). This delegation group included some executives, venture capital investors, and leaders from business promotion bureau of SIP, and they gave a great introduction about SuZhou industry park. Several keynote speakers from some big companies and universities at Chicago area delivered several great speeches on two major technique topics about nano-technology and health-care. Discussion Forum and TV program in China Star

Proposed by Daway, the President of China Star, some leaders from ACSE and six other professional and alumni associations had a forum and made a TV program based on it. The key topic of the forum is how to enhance the cooperation among different associations and form a strong integrity of Chicago professional Chinese people. The forum was quite successful and the TV program looks great.

In the afternoon of Feb.11,2006, ACSE hosted a very successful discussion forum to talked about the further cooperation with other associations in Chicago, the general introductions about different ACSE professional societies and many interesting experience from some attendance of the ACSE China Delegation last December. After the forum, ACSE hosted a great annual dinner party together with four most important alumni associations. There were about 200 people attending the party, which was a record high.

ACSE Professional Society in Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ACSE-IAM) held its First 2005-2006 Discussion Forum

On Sunday, November 20, 2005, ACSE Professional Society in Industrial and Applied Mathematics held its first discussion
forum in Downers Grove, Illinois. Dr. Donggeng Gong, the president of ACSE-IAM, and also the president of The Overseas Chinese
Society for Industry and Applied Math (OC-SIAM) hosted the meeting. About thirty scholars and professional experts with majors
in math, statistics, computer, physics, and engineering, etc. attended this event, with working areas covering financial
engineering, trading systems, derivative (futures and options) markets, and risk managements.
